What In The World Is a Musical Door?
As you know, music is composed of individual notes and scales and scale fragments and chords and broken chords, all arranged in a sequence of some kind that we call “rhythm”. And you know there all many kinds of chords – from major to minor to diminished to augmented to 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths, altered chords, slash chords and so forth. But did you know that there is a chord type that opens a musical door to other keys and other chords? It’s called a “diminished 7th chord” and contains 4 notes, any one of which can function as the root of the chord. And there are really only three of these diminished 7th chords, even though you can call them by many names.
